Monthly APC training that is affordable and great value

A programme of monthly evening masterclasses, that focus on either an aspect of the APC process, or on a technical core or technical optional competency for a specific pathway.

What you DON’T get:

Any food or drink
We are trying to keep the price as low as possible so we have removed any non-essential costs without reducing the quality of the masterclass.
Please feel free to bring your own food and drink, but no hot or messy food or alcohol please.

Competency awareness to level 1 (competency masterclasses only);
Guidance on what you need to know about your pathway from an APC assessor with extensive knowledge of the pathway (in competency masterclasses) or the APC process (in APC process masterclasses)

Presentation practice: Delegates present their APC final assessment presentation to the APC assessor running the masterclass in front of all the other delegates.

Mock interview: Delegates will be given a mock interview by the APC assessor running the masterclass in front of all the other delegates. We require an up to date copy of your final assessment templates emailed to us at least one week before the masterclass, so that the assessor can prepare suitable questions for your mock interview.

The presenters

Jon Lever FRICS
Our Managing Director, Jon Lever FRICS, is a RICS UK Final Assessment Assessor Trainer, a member of the RICS Regulatory Board and an RICS Training Advisor. Through these roles Jon is fully up to date with the APC process and has written numerous guidance notes for RICS APC Assessors as well as re-writing the presentations and notes used to train new assessors.

Ashley Cooper MRICS
A Director of Edward Cooper Chartered Surveyors and an RICS Assessor, Ashley Cooper was previously a Partner of Gardiner & Theobald LLP. His Quantity Surveying experience covers a wide range of project types and sectors. These include residential, health care, hotels, retail, education, commercial and leisure. Ashley has provided Development Monitoring services to Banks and Financial Institutions since 2000 and has worked on a variety of projects in many different sectors and just recently concluded his role as National Chairman for RICS matrics.

Melissa Lubbock MRICS
Melissa Lubbock is a qualified RICS APC Assessor for the Commercial Property pathway and has in excess of twelve years broad ranging property experience. Further to asset/portfolio management, she undertakes her own professional work such as rent reviews and lease renewals. Primarily Melissa works on industrial & retail property but has further experience of other property sectors

These masterclasses are very different from anything else on offer as they give you the opportunity to regularly practice your APC presentation or have a short mock APC interview with an APC assessor.

Each masterclass is run by an APC assessor and covers:

The talk: A forty-five minute talk on either one technical competency, or an aspect of the APC process.
The practice: A number of fifteen minute presentations or mock interviews with a further ten minute critique after each one.

The presentation practice is designed to give delegates an idea of how it might be to present to the final assessment panel and helps delegates to polish their presentation and performance. The opportunity to present is given regularly, so delegates can come back and present again at another masterclass.

The mock interviews are designed to give both the interviewed candidate and the other delegates a real taste of the style of questioning they can expect at the APC.
The questions are tailored to the experience of the interviewee as would be the case in a real APC final assessment. No stock questions are ever used. This gives delegates the regular opportunity for a mock interview that is both extremely realistic and affordable.
Questions: A half hour open question and answer session where delegates can ask any APC questions they have and share their experiences with other delegates.
