*Excel Compatibility Issues

The myAPC diary 2006 has been designed to work in all versions of Excel from Excel 2000 onwards.

Below are some compatibility issues that you should be aware of:

 Excel 97
Whilst we stipulate Excel 2000 upwards is the best for the myAPC diary 2006 you may find it works perfectly well on Excel 97. However, we only offer limited support if the myAPC diary suffers a problem being run in Excel 97.

Excel 2000 to 2003
The myAPC diary 2006 should work perfectly in these versions of Excel. However the myAPC diary 2006 does rely on the user having an up to date version of Excel as the myAPC diary 2006 does have some of the latest functionality within it which requires these updates. We strongly recommend that Excel is updated FREE of charge from www.microsoft.com. If you would like some further guidance please download our technical support guidance note, here: myAPC diary 2006 Excel Updating (50k PDF).

Excel 2007
The myAPC diary 2006 has been extensively tested on Excel 2007 running on Windows XP Professional or Home and it does not suffer any functionality issues. However, a few points to note:

1. FIRST USE:
When first opening myAPC diary 2006 in Excel 2007 you may be prompted to update the myAPC diary 2006 as some of the ’label formulas’ are no longer compatible in Excel 2007. Agree to the changes that Excel 2007 wishes to make as we have not seen any detriment to the myAPC diary 2006 functionality.

2. VISUAL FORMATTING
Again we have not seen any detriment in the myAPC diary 2006 functionality here and the myAPC diary 2006 still prints all reports perfectly when using the ‘Print’ button within the myAPC diary 2006 top menu bar.

3. ENABLING MACROS
The myAPc diary 2006 relies on macros for it’s functionality. Therefore we drum it into our users that macros must be ENABLED. Excel 2007 will allow you to open the myAPC diary 2007 without prompting you to enable macros, however you will notice on Excel 2007’s tool bar that it mentions macros are present and asks for the user to make a decision to enable or not. Please enabe them otherwise the myAPC diary WILL NOT function properly.

4. SAVING **IMPORTANT**
Please make sure that you save the myAPC diary 2006 in the correct format. Namely the format you will have opened it in and that recognised by Excel 2007 as an Excel workbook for Excel 97 to 2003 (.xls). If you start changing to Excel 2007 formats (.xlsx or .xlsm) you WILL CORRUPT IRREVERSIBLY your copy of the myAPC diary 2006. Also if you retain the Excel 97 to 2003 (.xls) format you WILL be able to open the myAPC diary 2006 on lower versions of Excel.

PLEASE NOTE: On the rare occasion that the myAPC diary 2006 has been corrupted by Excel or the user, we are pleased to report that the myAPC diary 2006 has never lost any of the user recorded data and our FREE technical support has been able to rectify the software problem and get the user back up and running again in a very short period of time.
