Every candidate enrolling on the APC/ATC from August/September 2002 must have an approved Structured Training Agreement (STA).
Please Note: Enrolling on or after 1 July 2006 will require you to use the July 2006 Structured Training Agreement (STA) template.

Approval Process

PLEASE READ THE TEMPLATE CAREFULLY. Especially the RED text which has been included in the template as guidance. The employer completes the STA and the counsellor emails it back to Jon for comment. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IT TO THE RICS.
Jon will provide comment until a final draft is achieved.
Jon will require a statement from the candidate’s counsellor that he is committed to the APC/ATC process and he and the candidate’s employer fully understands the APC/ATC process and the STA document. This statement can be emailed by the counsellor to Jon at jon@delever.co.uk and must come from the counsellor’s email address and be signed off by the counsellor.
On completion of the final draft, Jon will assess and approve the STA. Jon will also invite the candidate, supervisor and counsellor to a RTA Surgery (which is very important) for a general chat over the APC/ATC process. Go to the RTA Surgeries page for more information on dates, locations and timings.
Jon will issue his approval via email and inform the RICS that your STA has been approved.
The process is then complete until any future changes made by the RICS warrants an update of the STA.

Please Note: If you have had your 2002 version of the STA previously approved it is NOT necessary to submit it for re-approval under the 2006 version of the APC guides. The changes in the 2006 version of the APC guides fall within the normal changes that the RICS would expect an employer to make for each individual candidate.
